Here at John T. Nicholas & Son we do what we love and take pride in what we do.  Our love for woodworking and the pride we take is shown in each handcrafted project.  We specialize in wood, building most anything from cabinets, fine furniture, turnings and woodcarvings, along with many other projects indoor and outdoor.  We work with many species of hardwoods and softwoods incorporating the highest quality in furniture grade veneered plywoods.  We pride ourselves in building solid wood furniture with hand rubbed oil finishes.  Our influences and styles are a wide range of Shaker, American Craftsman, Early American and many others. 

Custom Woodworking is our passion.  At John T. Nicholas & Son, we work with customers who want that certain, special detail to suit their needs.  Often customers will bring us a design they like but want it taller, wider, deeper or want it made of solid cherry or walnut.  We strive to satisfy the needs of each individual customer.  We take joy in creating and building heirloom quality furniture that will last many generations.   

John T. Nicholas & Son opened it woodshop doors in 1978.   An idea that started out as extra income soon turned into a full time business.  The years that followed saw many changes from building homes to barns to eventually traveling the United States selling handmade furniture and more at country folk art shows.  Our main emphasis has always been on the woodshop where now father and son work together building fine furniture, cabinetry, turnings and carvings. 

The shop is located in rural Michigan near the small town of Gregory.  Easily within 90 minutes driving time or less of  Lansing, Ann Arbor, Detroit and Flint.  The 2200 sq/ft shop is a host to many power and hand tools appropriate for getting the job done right.  With an 800 sq/ft addition in the works which will be used for our woodworking classes and showroom we will be able to better serve our clientele.
